Trout & Char Egg Patterns
Egg fly patterns are to Alaska fly fishing what the Adams dry fly is to the rest of the continent - must have! No one goes to Alaska without a few egg patterns because if that's all they're hitting, you'd better have some in your fly box. Bristol Bay Flies' bead eggs are the 6mm size to perfectly imitate the sockeye salmon egg. The sockeye is the most abundant salmon in Alaska and their eggs are eagerly sought by trout, Dollies, and grayling. The Lead-Eye Pinkie, Dolly Dynamite, and Double Egg Pattern are larger and are the perfect imitations for the size 8mm and 10mm salmon eggs of the king, chum, and silver salmon. The Alaskan Omelette and Chosen River Eggo represent larger clusters of eggs; a very tempting meal to hungry trout! Stash a few patterns in your box, just in case.
