Elite bands of anglers the world over are drawn to Alaska, Southwestern Canada, and the Pacific Northwest in search of what many call the "Holy Grail" of flyfishing. And if you don't know why, then you've never caught a steelhead. We present here some of the best fly patterns to land one of the "Prince of Sportfish". Bead Sucking Cone Head Leech, Size 2

Bead Sucking Cone Head Leech, Size 2

An original pattern we developed, this is the latest twist on what is probably the most famous fly pattern used in Alaska. The cone head provides weight and a most enticing action to the fly. Our #1 seller!! The color beads actually emit a phosphorescent glow when charged by a flashlight, sunlight, or camera strobe. This feature increases the effectiveness of the fly during periods of reduced visibility and high glacial silt, and the extra energy emitted is detected by trout and salmon even in full daylight. Great pattern for kings, silvers, rainbow and steelhead. Fantastic results reported using the Black/Glo Orange (aka the Halloween Fly) for late season silver (coho) salmon and giant rainbow on the Kenai, Lake Creek, Naknek, Talkeetna, Susitna, Chulitna, Nushagak, Alagnak, Goodnews, Copper, Kvichak, and Togiak rivers, and for kings under low water conditions. Tied on 2x-strong Daiichi 2220 streamer hook. Size: 2 only. Colors: Purple/Glo Pink, Black/Glo Orange, Black/Glo Green, Chartreuse/Glo Green, Fuchsia/Glo Pink, White/Glo Pink.

Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy is the legendary "yarn fly" for Alaskan trout and one of the best-kept "secret lodge flies". This yarn-winged flesh and egg pattern is fantastic and works all season! Looks like a glob of milt-covered salmon eggs or a tasty bite of salmon flesh. The Peach and White colors represent washed out salmon flesh or dead eggs, two of the favorite monster trout meals. The yarn wing assists anglers by allowing more time to set the hook as the fish's teeth get hung up in the yarn. Rainbow hit these hard and the more chewed-up they get, the better they work! Some lodges use more than 300 dozen of these per season. Unweighted on a heavy-duty 2X strong series 5262 nymph hook. Size: 6 only. Colors (body chenille/tail & wing): Shell Pink/Champagne, Fl. White/Peachy King, Peach/Champagne, Fl. Orange/White.
