PRODUCT QUALITY:
We use top quality materials from the leading U.S. and Canadian suppliers. Most patterns are tied with Danville's flat-waxed heavy-duty thread, Danville's 6/0 thread, or Uni-Thread. We use a variety of hooks from Dai-Riki, Daiichi, Gamakatsu, Eagle Claw, Targus, and the Mustad Signature Series. Each hook we use is chosen for its strength, sharpness, and design to be compatible with each specific fly pattern. The Alaskan and Western U.S. regions require heavy-duty fly patterns that are durable and can withstand aggressive attack by large, powerful trout and salmon. Our flies are tied to that standard. Most of our patterns are tied in the U.S.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY:
Bristol Bay Flies strongly supports environmental policies to safeguard our nation's waterways and to protect our renewable and sustainable trout and salmon populations. Our very livelihood depends on protecting these resources.
We have made a concerted effort to use lead-free weighting, whenever possible, on our fly patterns. Lead or lead-free weighting is indicated in the pattern description. If you have a preference, please indicate your preference for lead or non-lead weighting on your order. We know that strict California environmental laws have severely restricted the fly patterns that can be used in that state, and we have tried to provide as many compatible patterns with lead-free weighting as we can. We will tie and supply for your particular fishing situation.
We support and encourage catch-and-release practices on all native species of trout and salmon. Most of our fly patterns feature micro-barbs to encourage barb-pinching. Some patterns can also be custom tied on barbless hooks. Please inquire.
